Strengthen Your Relationship Tip #1

My husband, Vj, and I are continually working toward a stronger and more fulfilling connection to one another.  As one wise person said, relationships are like cleaning your home, you don’t just work on it once and then you’re done forever.  It takes maintenance work (or play, however you want to look at it) and periodic focused attention.

As you may already know, Vj and I have been deeply in love from around the time that we met.  Even with that grand power of love and connection, we broke up.  We each needed to learn how to be an empowering and supportive mate while getting our needs met.  This is something that we continue to do.

One of the ways in which we do this is that we seek help from people who are enjoying a successful and loving relationship.  We have sought out help from all sorts of disciplines and dharmas, but most importantly, we talk to and emulate couples who are really fulfilled in their relationship and then implement what they are doing or tailor it to our specific needs.

Asking for help and guidance takes humility and courage.  It isn’t always easy.  Sometimes, for us, it is hardest to ask for when it is most needed!  I cannot begin to tell you how much seeking guidance from others has magnificently enhanced the well-being of our relationship and each of us individually.

Seeking a mentor for your primary relationship can improve your quality of life beyond measure.
